July 11, 2018 Story Time - The Itsy Bitsy Spider
If you missed this weeks story time here is what we did:
*marks the books we read
The Itsy Bitsy Spider by Iza Trapani*
Little Miss Muffet by Iza Trapani*
The Tickly Spider by Margaret Wise Brown*
The Itsy Bitsy Spider by Lorianne Siomades
Frank the Seven-Legged Spider by Michaele Razi*
For our craft we wound yarn around a small paper plate with notches cut around the edges to make a web, then added a plastic spider.
Extra activities
Itsy Bitsy Spider
The Itsy Bitsy Spider climbed up the waterspout
down came the rain and washed the spider out
out came the sun and dried up all the rain
and the Itsy Bitsy Spider climbed up the spout again
Little Miss Muffet
Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet
eating her curds and whey
along came a spider
who sat down beside her
and frightened Miss Muffet away
Spider facts:
Spiders don't have antenna, which separates them from insects
An increase of spiderwebs in your house may be a sign of cold weather coming
Crabs are distant relatives of spiders
Some spiders hunt by spitting poisonous fluid to immobilize their prey
Spiders are nearsighted, which means they can't see things far away
The blood of a spider is light blue (please don't kill any spiders just to see if this is true!)
